What is Mindfulness ?

Mindfulness is an increasingly popular meditative practice that encourages the individual to focus on their thoughts and feelings, in the moment, as well as on the world around them. It can help you tackle the many stresses and strains of modern life, while providing you with a tranquil escape from the hectic pace and constant bustle of the outside world.

How can Mindfulness help me ?

There are countless ways you can apply mindfulness in your everyday life. You can use it to help you to relax and focus on worthwhile activities, control and suppress negative thoughts and emotions, reduce anxiety and stress, improve your sleep, lower blood pressure, ease gastrointestinal difficulties, and even help reduce chronic pain or more effectively tackle illness.

Mindfulness can improve your mental health, which has knock-on effects for your physical health and general wellbeing.

PROFILE : Nicola Conway, Mindfulness Trainer

I’m Nicola, a registered nurse, with more than 25 years experience in mental health – and a BAMBA-accredited Mindfulness Trainer. I live in the lovely village of Gresford, just outside Wrexham, with my husband, Rob, and our three kids, Megan, Lottie and Ted.

Professionally, I trained as a mental health nurse in the early 1990s. And, apart from a brief period (where I was stationed on Guernsey, in the Channel Islands), I have worked in and around the North Wales region – mainly caring for adults and children with a variety of disabilities and mental health issues.
